Fall Session Startup

Maureen Miller Sensei

Hello everyone,

We have the contract, so get your gi’s all prettied up. Our first karate class will be on Thursday, October 2nd.  October may seem like a long way off, but you’ve only got 9 days to find that gi, brush up on all your subjects, and get ready to jump in with both feet, and lots of spirit and high energy!  You are welcome to bring a friend to join you in our first class back if you want! See you in class.

Harry Bergeest Shihan Moves to Austalia

Last November 2013 I decided after much thought to immigrate to Australia to retire and join my wife in Australia. After discussion with Vic Hargitt Shihan we have promoted Ennio Gasbarri to the position of Chief Instructor and Bill Wiseman as Assistant Chief Instructor. They have supported me over the last years more than I could ask for and are both more than capable to continue on the tradition of Shorei Kan Karate at Langley Dojo to the highest standards. I wish them both all the best.

I will sorely miss all my students and all the people I have befriended over the last 30 years in Shorei Kan Karate. I would also like to thank all the people I have trained with and who have taught me to be a good karate ka and a better person. A special thanks goes out to Vic Hargitt Shihan who has been an inspiration to me and the best friend anyone could ever ask for.

I will endeavour to continue my training and I hope to soon be able to set up a Shorei Kai Dojo in Australia. Again I would like to give many thanks to all the people that made my journey in Shorei Kan so memorable.
